Reflections...
One of my mentors, M. L. King Jnr (although, I never met him) once wrote the following:
"At times we may feel that we do not need God, but on the day when the storms of disappointment rage, the winds of disaster blow, and the tidal waves of grief beat against our lives, if we do not have a deep and patient faith, our emotional lives will be ripped to shreds. There is so much frustration in the world because we have relied on gods rather than God. We have genuflected before the god of science only to find that it has given us the atomic bomb, producing fears and anxieties that science can never mitigate. We have worshiped the god of pleasure only to discover that thrills play out and sensations are short-lived. We have bowed before the god of money only to learn that there are such things as love and friendship that money cannot buy and that in a world of possible depressions, stock market crashes, and bad business investments, money is a rather uncertain deity. These transitory gods are not able to save us or bring happiness to the human heart. Only God is able. It is faith in him that we must rediscover. With this faith we can transform bleak and desolate valleys into sunlit paths of joy and bring new light into the dark caverns of pessimism." (M.L.King jnr in 'Strength to Love', p. 51)
Reflecting on Hiroshima,7/7 London bombings and other atrocities that have plagued the world, I can't help but to see the NEED for God.Hate can't drive out hate!Only love, divine love can. Of course, it can be argued that some of the atrocities in the world were results of/ products of religion. And yes, such a point can be sustained, however, we fail to note that it wasn't caused by God. God is love. It would be a contradiction of his person/character.
Getting rid of evil?
"Evil can be cast out, not by man alone nor by a dictatorial God who invades our lives, but when we open the door and invite God through Christ to enter. 'Behold, I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.' God is too courteous to break open the door, but when we open it in faith believing, a divine and human confrontation will transform our sin-ruined lives into radiant personalities." (Strength to Love, p. 126)
Concur or contend,Humanity can't live without God!

Having known 'wisevik' over the years has brought me quite an inspiration although I tend to keep it a secret from him (pls don't tell him...). In all the debates, arguements, constructive criticisms, call it what you may, I have found that although I may have a different opinion on some occassions, his opinion hasn't been far fetched from mine.
If ever I have had to agree with him on any point, I believe this should be the greatest of such points. I will not even try to quote any famous speakers or more so mentors to support this blog, and especially the bit on fighting hate with hate. I suppose common sense if there is any such thing, should be enough to tell us all that in retaliation to the manifestation of hatred dislpayed or otherwise implied by one person, we may directly or by implication affect other people who will then want to also retaliate hence spreading even more hatred and retaliation... If the powers that be and hence the world is truely in support of promoting world peace, we will need to put on our thinking cups and learn to let go off our strong will and then especially as 'wisevik' has already said leave it to the God of peace. Shalom is His name!
